Superflex Rodent Behavior System
Overview | Details | Order Information The CageEach Superflex cage houses a set of 16 light beams in a linear horizontal orientation in both the x and y axes. When a rodent intersects a light beam, the hardware detects that the beam has been broken and reports this information to the computer. In this manner, the software can determine the location of the rodent within the cage grid. Additionally, each cage contains start/stop buttons on each side. These buttons may be used to start and stop experiments for individual rodent in two-animal experiments when the researcher is not in proximity to the PC. The NodeThe Superflex Node is the intermediary between the sensors and the PC. Each Node connects to all the sensors on the cage, and contains a USB port to connect to the PC. It is physically attached to the cage and has a small, unobtrusive profile. The Node’s simple connections to both the PC and Sensors make setup effortless. Each node captures 100 cage frames per second from its respective cage. The Superflex Node contains two light indicators: Status and Motion – both with a unique diagnostic purpose. It is CE certified, and is capable of automatically switching between 110 Volt and 220 Volt operation. The SoftwareThe heart of the Superflex RBS system is the software. Using the software, experiments can be designed and run which record the beam events as they occur. It is capable of recording and time stamping every cage event, and can be used to run even multi-animal, multi-day experiments flawlessly. Once the experiment data is recorded, it can be reanalyzed as many times as needed. In addition, as improvements and additions to the software become available, the data can always be reanalyzed using the new features. Because of the cutting edge security and reliability features in Superflex, the user can be confident that the data is authentic and accurate. One such feature is the Superflex Diagnostic readout, which can be displayed at all times in an onscreen readout. This readout displays the status of each beam for easy detection of undesirable beam blockages.
