Overview

Each system includes the MicroMax Monitor frame with sensor pairs, MicroMax Analyzer and a distribution hub. Each hub accepts three of the sensor frames, which in turn connect to the analyzer. MicroMax Software is Windows XP/Vista compatible. The MicroMax includes a fixed frame that accommodates the user provided home cage (special cages may be requested) with a single pair of sensors that monitor the animal's activity via 16 infrared light beams. The sensor height is adjustable from 4cm to 26cm. The MicroMax system can be used with mice, rats or other small animals.

Beam Mask

Beam mask is a standard feature of the MicroMax System. Since the system detects the position of the animal based on which light beams are blocked, it is important to differentiate between the animal blocking a beam and anything other than the animal (such as cage walls). Beam masking allows you to choose which beams should not be included as part of the experiment protocol. The MicroMax Analyzer will accept data from up to 24 monitors or 48 animals in the two-cage setup.
